Through the use of colorful shapes and expressive art-making, kindergarten students in our class develop important socio-emotional skills. By exploring emotions through creativity, children strengthen their social awareness and build meaningful connections with their peers and themselves. This activity serves as a foundation for lifelong emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships.

Students will use lyric templates to create their own collaborative songs. While identifying feelings, and ways to express them, students will explore the use of words in music.

Students will learn how to use body percussion and chants to create short rhythmic patterns that express how they feel and who they are.

Students will learn about rhythm, find their unique rhythm maker, and compose a taiko rhythm that tells a story. Throughout the lesson, students will build a sense of mindfulness and respect for themselves, their peers, and their instruments.

Students will dance in a circle to three different pieces of music, changing their speed to match each song.
