Experience the powerful rhythms and cultural richness of enTaiko, a dynamic Japanese drumming ensemble based in Portland, Oregon, offering engaging and educational school performances. Founded in 2007, enTaiko is committed to preserving and sharing Japan’s centuries-old musical traditions while introducing students to the vibrant energy of taiko drumming.
The newly formed enTaiko ensemble, composed of skilled adult drummers, takes audiences on an immersive journey into Japanese culture. Through captivating performances, enTaiko brings the spirit of Japan to life in a way that is both educational and entertaining. Each show celebrates heritage, tradition, and the joy of collective expression.
What sets enTaiko’s performances apart is the focus on interactive learning. Taiko is more than just a performance; it’s an experience that inspires and engages young minds. At the end of each show, students are invited to participate in the drumming, allowing them to feel the power of the drums and the thrill of making music together. This hands-on approach ensures that every enTaiko school show is a memorable and impactful experience.

This performance runs 30-40 minutes long and is available to book in March, April and May 2025.

About the Artist

enTaiko

en Taiko is a Japanese drumming group. The workshop and residency programs are designed to introduce basics of Taiko playing, including stance, simple rhythms, and playing with partners. It will also introduce aspects of Japanese culture. Students will enjoy experiencing the taiko drumming.
