Field Station: Animals and the Natural World

Mammals, reptiles, and birds oh my! Spark your curiosity as you learn about animals and their environments. Using ethically sourced natural history specimen, including mammal skulls and underwater creatures, observe and create detailed artwork while creating connections about organisms and their environments.

Jess will also share skills for scientific illustration, painting, and field observation. Longer residencies can include making a field journal from scratch.

Students will have access to images of natural specimen that are part of artist’s collection, techniques for more successful drawing, and useful facts for studying and identifying natural history specimens. Written programs consist of 4 full lessons exploring the same topics as video programs with images and tools for success.

This program may be done as a residency or a single session workshop.
