Exploring the World through Watercolor

Students will learn the basics of color theory: the color wheel, and the three basic watercolor techniques. Then Students will be encouraged to explore with color and create authentic and original pieces using watercolor to paint various pieces. Students will begin to become familiar with color through exploration to create an abstract piece. Next they will use the skills they’ve built to create a watercolor resist, tying science with art. For further exploration students will create a piece that embodies the subject matter pertinent to class( be the focus on animals, famous people, buildings, habitats.

About the Artist

Angela Mion

Angela has been an artist since she was little. Angela as always considered herself a lifelong learner with a quest to experience and understand the world be it personal, community-oriented, or global. She uses inspiration from various cultures through her travels and interactions to create pieces made out of new and sustainably sourced materials. Her main medium is painting, mosaics and upcycled fiber art. As a registered occupational therapist and artist she uses her knowledge and experience to give children the freedom to expand their creativity as it leads to other valuable life skills such as resourcefulness, empathy and ingenuity hopefully fostering a love of lifelong learning.
