A Little Me: Making Self-Portrait Dolls

Making self-portraits in the form of dolls, the children will learn to design, create a pattern, cut fabric and sew. There is also the option to stitch on canvas in a collage fashion instead.
This project will motivate self-reflection and will encourage socialization and self-esteem as they share who they are with their peers. They will be encouraged to practice observational and social-emotional skills as they see themselves in the mirror and describe each other’s work.

Includes observing famous self-portraits and dolls from different cultures. We will talk about the use of dolls across cultures and throughout history.
