Artist Biography
Paul has been an artist/teacher all his life, starting with teaching children's classes at the Baltimore Museum of Art at the age of 18. Since then, he has taught through the Artists-in Schools Program in Oregon, Young Musicians and Artists at Willamette University as well as at Central Oregon Community College in Bend. He has produced 3 books of his art. Pendleton Woolen Mills created 16 tapestries based on his paintings. His work has also been reproduced as greeting cards, prints, book and magazine covers. He currently maintains a studio in Sisters, Oregon where he continues to do his art and teach painting.
Teaching Philosophy
Paul likes to make things and believes that we are all makers. Being an inventor --whether its with food in the kitchen, growing flowers in the garden or creating a painting--can be a soul satisfying experience.
Testimonial
One day I was working with a group of 3rd graders, teaching them how to paint large, colorful paintings that were spread out on the gymnasium floor. At the end of the session one student stood up and exclaimed, "This has been the best day in my life!"
