Express Yourself with Animal Songs with Red Yarn (Andy Furgeson)
Learning Target: I can explain how my musical choices reflect my ideas and feelings. I can describe how different kinds of music create different feelings and ideas.
Learning Summary: Students will identify their mood, choose a related animal, and then compose simple animal songs with original lyrics and rhythms that reflect their mood & their animal’s behavior. With partners, students will share their compositions and reflect upon how their feelings guided their creative choices, and how it felt to create.
Arts Standard: Art: MU.4.PR1.1. With limited guidance, demonstrate and discuss personal interest in, knowledge about, and purpose of varied musical selections.
SEL Standard: "Standard 1: Self-Awareness & Identity: Identify and reflect upon one’s thoughts, emotions, behaviors, intersectional identity, and capabilities across situations and environments."
