Observational Thinking and Dance with Nicole MCall
Learning Target: I know how to give feedback in a helpful, effective manner. I can make changes to my choreography so the audience understands my intended message.
Learning Summary: The focus of this lesson is to teach students Observational Thinking as a way to give feedback in an open-minded, curious, and non-judgmental manner. Students will create short dances based on a personal emotion, watch each other perform, then share observations and feedback to help each other see how their moves are understood by an audience.
Arts Standard: Art: DA.3.CR3.5. Refine movements based on peer feedback and self-reflection to clarify communication of an idea within a dance combination. Record changes made through writing, drawings, or media technology.
SEL Standard: "Standard 4: Relationship Skills & Collaborative Problem-Solving: Establish and maintain healthy, supportive relationships and effectively navigate diverse settings in order to collaboratively solve problems."
