Learning Target: I can use a variety of materials and techniques to create artwork that communicates an idea. I can choose an idea to communicate that is unique to me or one that is collective and relates to a larger community. I create a composition by choosing between diverse options.

Learning Summary: Students will use a variety of materials and techniques to create artwork that communicates an idea. They will choose an idea to communicate that is unique to them or one that is collective and relates to a larger community. Students will create a composition by choosing between diverse options. They will choose safe ways to use materials and choose materials to make art that best communicate their ideas. Their work will be informed by the place they are from, which holds many stories, cultures and histories.

Arts Standard: Art: VA.1.CR1.4. Generate and research ideas for artwork that draw upon specific moods, feelings, or themes.

SEL Standard: "Standard 5: Responsible Decision-Making & Curiosity: Demonstrate curiosity and analysis of oneself and society in order to make caring choices that impact personal, social, and collective well-being across situations and environments."
