Ngoma Ngoma Teacher Workshop

This program offered by: Yingwana Khosa
Through Drums and Dance we can encourage youth to be a positive influence in their communities and schools. This is one way to understand UBUNTU, an African idea translated as “I am because of you.”

When you grow in a community of traditional music and dance, it becomes your daily routine. Yingwana believes in drums as a way of communication and sharing the feeling and beauty of the village. He works with youth to gain knowledge and understanding of how the drums can bring people together, and to help them to become active in their community.

To be taught by elders in a community creates a good feeling and a powerful experience. The wisdom is passed down from one generation to the next. Through drums and dance we can encourage youth to be a positive influence in their communities and schools.

In this 50 minute teacher workshop Yingwana plays rhythms with the teachers, giving them an opportunity to share the experience of their students.
