An introduction to the drumming of Ghana, West Africa. Students learn the specific techniques in order to get different sounds from the drums. Each student learns how to create a solo and how to work together as a member of an ensemble. The students will learn about polyrhythms and how to create them.

This program may be done as a residency or a single session workshop.

About the Artist

Woshishijee- New Beginnings with Alex Addy & Michael Akoto

Alex was born in Ghana and came to the US to join his father, Obo Addy. He performs across the US and teaches in Portland. Michael was also born into music and dancing. He taught and performed in Accra, Ghana, before moving to the US to do the same.
