Teaching Philosophy
At the heart of Romana's artistic philosophy lies a profound commitment to sustainability and
the environment. Her work serves as a testament to her passion for low-impact earth visual art
and accessibility to all. Specializing in mixed media, Romana skillfully merges different artistic
mediums to create captivating narratives that resonate with both artistic and ethically sourced
materials. A distinctive hallmark of Romana's approach is her exploration of the origins of art
supplies. She delves into the essence of materials, embracing their history and significance, and
infuses this essence into her creations. Her perspective infuses her work with depth and
authenticity, making each piece a reflection of not just her artistic journey but the origin of
creativity. As a Portland-based artist and educator, she continuously inspires her students to not
only appreciate the visual arts but also consider their impact on the world without impacting the
world. With her guidance, art becomes a bridge between personal expression and global
mindfulness where creativity, education, and environmental consciousness converge, leading
the way to a more ethical and sustainable future.
