Learn to bring your name to life by animating your name! Stop Motion is a series of frozen pictures with little changes made between them that make the artwork look like it is moving.
Learning Target
● I can work with different materials to build the letters in my name
● I can use pictures to create a stop motion animation.
Materials
● A pencil
● Blank paper
● A chromebook or phone with a camera.
● Loose parts or things like beans, legos, paper clips, rice, rocks, etc. Gather from the kit and from your space.
Instructions
1. Write your name with BIG letters on a paper. Fill up the whole paper!
2. Count the letters in your name.
3. Take out many different loose parts. Try using beans, legos, rocks, or anything small you can find.
3. Animate your name!
Cover each letter with a different material. Take a photo after you cover each letter.
Cover the first letter. Take a photo!
Cover the next letter. Take a picture!
Keep covering letters and taking pictures.
Each letter is covered with a different material!
4. Watch your animation!
Flip through your pictures and see your name spell itself! Do it all over again with different materials. Maybe use crayons or even macaroni!
Reflection
Write in your journal or draw in your sketchbook
● What was your favorite part of this activity?
● How did you choose the materials for the letter in your name? Were some easier to use than others?
● How did each material move differently? What materials were easier to change and shape into letters?
Extra
● Try different materials, and decorate the area around your name with pictures of things you like for example, your favorite color, animal or food. Or pictures of your family!
