The Magic of Black Light Painting

This exciting residency introduces students to the fascinating world of black light painting. Led by Gonzalo, students will experiment with neon paints and invisible ink to create glowing artworks that come to life under UV light. Throughout the three sessions, Gonzalo will guide students through the basics of black light painting while integrating the concepts of light and perception in art. The program will encourage creativity and offer students a unique opportunity to see their work transformed in a way they’ve never experienced before.

In the first and second sessions, students will focus on creating 2D and 3D shapes, painting them with neon paints and invisible ink, and then, they will explore how color perception and visual effects change under different lighting conditions. In the third session, the students’ work will be gathered to create a classroom installation, allowing them to experience the impact of light and composition on their artwork while showcasing the results of their collective creativity.

By the end of the residency, students will have created glowing black light paintings and sculptures that demonstrate their experiment with light, shapes and perception.
