Students will investigate, self-reflect, and share their personal stories in various ways - while also practicing deep listening, observation, and collaboration processes to create and share a variety of stories about individual and communal identities, culture, interests, and concerns.

Students will explore human emotions and learn how different individuals or characters can respond differently to the same event. Through exercises like body isolation and facial movements, they’ll develop awareness of their body’s position and movement.

Students will learn to use their bodies as tools for acting through exercises and games. They will create characters (including objects) and use them in a scene showing an invention by a Black American. Students will be the audience for each other, developing observation skills and respect.

They will then work on short scenes in pairs to explore how punctuation can change the meaning and tone of a story. The lesson will result in a final performance of a short script that combines the ideas and contributions of the group members.
