Using things found in the world around them (a book), students will make observations and then improvise moves that feel connected to their source inspiration. Developing creativity in dance requires experimentation and exploration using a variety of sources as inspiration for movement to represent personal and/or symbolic meaning.

Students will be introduced to the art of songwriting. We will explore two major elements of songwriting: lyrics and melody. Students will also work collaboratively and will practice the art of listening and building as a team.

Students will be introduced to the theatrical form of clowning. Through warm-ups, exercises and creating a scene, the class will explore expressing shapes and emotions, observing others, and responding to others' characters.

Students will practice simple song-making skills like creating rhythm, melody and lyrics. In small groups, students will each choose a song-making skill and collaborate with others to create a short musical composition about friendship.

I can create a collage that reflects how I see myself and the world around me. Students will learn how to create a collage that reflects how they see themselves and the world around them. They will explore different materials, colors, and images to represent their personal identities, emotions, and experiences. By combining these elements, students will visually communicate their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives on their surroundings. This project will encourage creativity and self-expression, helping them reflect on their identities and how they interact with the world.

Students will learn about sharing music and how different music is used on different occasions and creates an ambiance. Students will create a playlist that represents their classroom that they can use in the future.

Students will learn what it means to keep a beat, and then, what it feels like to stay on or off the beat.

Students will be intorduced to the use of dramatic structure in theatre and how it can be used to create a story.

Students will use elements of design to identify characteristics in found objects in their classroom.

Students will be introduced to an adaptation of a Southwestern/Southeastern indigenous story and embody the characters they learn about.

Students will observe and discuss meaning and mark making in Joan Miró's work and collaboratively create their own connections between emotions, lines and shapes. Then, students will individually create Miró inspired drawings.

Students collaborate to create a large mural using ripped paper, applying various elements and principles of art.

Students will learn to express themselves by creating a verse and chorus in a group. Students will explore rhyme schemes, structure and tempo while writing about their personal topics.

They will choose safe ways to use materials and choose materials to make art that best communicate their ideas. Their work will be informed by the place they are from, which holds many stories, cultures and histories.

Students will learn to express themselves through movement and the art of ballet. The guided videos will take them along the journey of a dragon and allow them to observe how different stages of the story make them feel.
