Learning Target: Students use slow looking, drawing and discussion to investigate elements that make us who we are.
Learning Summary: The focus of this lesson is for students see each other and themselves. Through slow looking, drawing and discussion, students investigate elements that make us who we are. We look at portraits and describe what we see, make continuous line portraits of one another (without looking!) and of ourselves, in which we emphasize one of our features.
Arts Standard: VA.10.CO1.3.1Explore the world through descriptiveand expressive works and artmaking.Use and share personal experiences and interests in creating artwork.Create works of art based on observations of surroundings.
SEL Standard: "Standard 1: Self-Awareness & Identity: Identify and reflect upon one’s thoughts, emotions, behaviors, intersectional identity, and capabilities across situations and environments."
