Speaking Out Teacher Workshop: Consider Multiple Perspectives with Theatre

This program offered by: Speaking Out Collective

Join Speaking Out Collective teaching artist Tessa Flynn Henderson (M.Ed. in Literacy Education) to experience hands-on storytelling, theatre and creative writing strategies that encourage learners to exercise creative critical literacy skills and consider multiple perspectives represented in a narrative. Participants will leave with tangible strategies aligned with state and national ELA and Theatre Arts standards to unpack text where learners ask big questions including, “Who has power in this story? Whose voice is represented? Whose voice is missing? Who benefits from a story like this? What would I change?”

About the Artist

Speaking Out Collective

Tessa Flynn Henderson (she/hers) is a teaching artist and performer with a Master's in Literacy Education and for twenty years has utilized theatre arts and storytelling in Prek-12 public school classrooms and community spaces.
