Exploring Paper: Origami and Papercraft

In this residency, students will immerse themselves in origami and paper craft, learning to fold, cut, and create with just paper. Gonzalo will guide them in creating a paper art piece inspired by the Peruvian Retablo art, envisioned as a stage-like container. Students will transform paper into 3D shapes, adding depth and dimension.

Students will also explore storytelling through paper, creating art pieces inspired by their own experiences and interests. As they build their stage-like scenes, they’ll add personal meaning and stories. In the final session, they’ll be invited to share their stories with the class!

By the end of this residency, students will have an understanding of paper art and its potential for creative expression while also learning about math through origami. This project will foster integration, exploration, problem solving, and storytelling, allowing each student to create a unique and meaningful piece.
