Rhythm and Autism Full One-Act Sneak Preview Reading

December 30, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

This will be a staged reading with music and background video and guitar playing and live looping, in preparation for my shows coming up in February, March, and April! This will be the “last scheduled stop” before the full one-act theatrical premiere on February 25. There may be some further changes between the reading and the full show, and I would welcome any constructive feedback. Room capacity is about 40 people. Running time is approximately 75 minutes, with no intermission.

RHYTHM AND AUTISM is a solo musical comedy that employs a WONDER YEARS-style narrative about my experiences growing up as an autistic girl (who didn’t know it yet) in the 1960s and 1970s, and an entity I call the “Clappy Monster,” which made its presence felt during the pandemic and changed my relationship with music (and other people) forever. There will be flapping. There will be clapping. There will (I hope!) be laughter and fun and healing. I intend this show to be a thunderously joyous celebration of difference, and an open invitation for everyone to be everything they are.

All ages admitted, recommended minimum age of 7, some descriptions of mental health/neurological issues and ableism
