Playing To The Beat Of Your Own Drum… Together with Victor Villegas
Learning Target: I can create a musical idea/composition with others.
Learning Summary: Students will learn the basics of rhythm, create their own beat as a means of self expressing their own ideas and practice playing their beat with others to create a collaborative rhythmical composition as a group.
Arts Standard: MU.1.CR1.5. Improvise rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic ideas, and explain connection to specific purpose and context (such as social, cultural, and historical). Generate musical ideas (such as rhythms, melodies, and accompaniment patterns) within specific related tonalities, meters, and simple chord changes.
SEL Standard: "Standard 1: Self-Awareness & Identity: Identify and reflect upon one’s thoughts, emotions, behaviors, intersectional identity, and capabilities across situations and environments.", "Standard 3: Social Awareness & Belonging: Develop social awareness that fosters a sense of belonging and leads to co-constructing equitable, thriving communities and a vibrant society."
