Ghanaian Drumming with Alex Addy
Learning Target: I can refine and organize my musical idea/composition I can explain how my musical choices express ideas and feelings about my community.
Learning Summary: Students will explore the cultural background of Ghanaian drumming and compose their own drum rhythm to express their emotions, uniting as a drumming classroom community.
Arts Standard: Art: MU.2.CR2.2. Demonstrate and explain personal reasons for selecting patterns and ideas for music that represent expressive intent. Use iconic or standard notation and/or recording technology to combine, sequence, and document personal musical ideas.
SEL Standard: "Standard 3: Social Awareness & Belonging: Develop social awareness that fosters a sense of belonging and leads to co-constructing equitable, thriving communities and a vibrant society.", "Standard 5: Responsible Decision-Making & Curiosity: Demonstrate curiosity and analysis of oneself and society in order to make caring choices that impact personal, social, and collective well-being across situations and environments."
