Celebrating Teaching Artists who Build Community!

In April, Arts for Learning NW celebrates talented Teaching Artists who build community, helping students to collaborate and develop connections.

  • Dance Joy Connection empowers students to discover the joy of dance and music, build self-confidence and mutual respect, and acquire skills in etiquette, cooperation and safety.
  • Anna Hoye's collaborative process encourages students to problem solve together on large scale community art pieces.
  • David Durosier connects students with traditional elements from Haitian culture through rhythm, dance and song. The act of both singing and dancing together as a group is a form of community building.
  • Habiba's Village storytelling, music and dance are incredibly engaging and encourage students to collaborate as they participate together in music and dance exploration

Woshishijee- New Beginnings with Alex Addy & Michael Akoto reaches kids through music!

"I was able to see kids be courageous and take risks when doing solos and performing. I saw a former student, who struggles with learning and concentration, play the drums flawlessly!" - Teacher at Indian Hills Elementary School

Pegasus Puppet Theatre engages kids with storytelling!

"Today was our puppet show day and let me tell you the kids LOVED it!!! Emily was great! Very engaging and entertaining! We have quite a few squirrely kids and they were even totally into it and well behaved! It was great to see their potential! I would recommend Emily/Pegasus Puppet Theatre to any organization that is interested."
- Teacher at North Marion Primary School
