Learning Target: I can explain how my musical choices reflect my ideas and feelings about my community.I can describe how different kinds of music have different meanings and uses for my community.
Learning Summary: In this lesson, students will learn some basic musical concepts, how music affects our emotions and how we can use music to self regulate. Students will also create their own rhythms and simple “songs” to express their emotions and share them with others.
Arts Standard: Art: MU.4.PR1.2. Demonstrate and explain personal interest in, knowledge about, and purpose of varied musical selections.
SEL Standard: "Standard 1: Self-Awareness & Identity: Identify and reflect upon one’s thoughts, emotions, behaviors, intersectional identity, and capabilities across situations and environments."
