Collaborative Song Making with Smith & Yarn
Learning Target: I can collaborate with classmates to create a musical composition that incorporates rhythm, melody and lyrics about friendship.
Learning Summary: Students will practice simple song-making skills like creating rhythm, melody and lyrics. In small groups, students will each choose a song-making skill and collaborate with others to create a short musical composition about friendship.
Arts Standard: Art: MU.1.CR1.3. Improvise rhythmic and melodic ideas, and describe connection to specific purpose and context (such as personal and social). Generate musical ideas (such as rhythms and melodies) within a given tonality and/or meter.
SEL Standard: "Standard 4: Relationship Skills & Collaborative Problem-Solving: Establish and maintain healthy, supportive relationships and effectively navigate diverse settings in order to collaboratively solve problems."
